A trademark filing by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has been discovered, one for the name “Infraworld”. That name refers to a game Quantic Dream COO Guillaume de Fondaumiere mentioned had been shelved back in 2006.

superannuation, the Twitter poster who found this filing, went on to point out that Heavy Rain mastermind David Cage had mentioned in March of 2010 that the basic story for his next game had already been written.

There’s another reason for the connection as well: if you watch the below video, you’ll see an Easter Egg in Heavy Rain where you can see a posted for a game called “Infraworld” with credit to “Quantic Dream” at the bottom.
