At the end of February’s season, Blizzard will be making a couple of changes to how ranked progression works in Hearthstone.
When players move from the end of February’s season into the beginning of March they will only lose four ranks, instead of being put back down towards the bottom of the ladder, so if a player finishes in legend they will start the next season at rank four.
According to the developer, this should give players a sense of progression when moving from season to season, as they will only need to gain five ranks to finish higher than than the previous season.

As well as this, Blizzard is also changing all ranks to require five stars to progress, to give a more even sense of progression between ranks in a season.
Hearthstone is available now as a free download on PC, iOS, and Android.
