VR - General

Quantic Dream, the developer behind Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, and Beyond: Two Souls, is currently experimenting with numerous VR headsets and games, but will not use VR in a future game just for the sake of it.

“We have all VR systems installed in the studio and I encourage my teams to try them out,” David Cage told GameIndustry.biz. “We’ve downloaded every game on every system to try and understand where people are right now, what works and what doesn’t work, and what we could bring to this medium.

“The idea is not to do VR for the sake of doing VR. It’s about saying something on this medium that hasn’t been said already.”

Cage added that VR would be a perfect fit for Quantic’s style of games due to the heavy use of gestures, instead of simple button presses.

Quantic Dream’s next game, Detroit: Being Human, is in development for PlayStation 4, but is currently without a release date.
