January is just about gone, and with the coming of a new month, we also prepare for the coming of a new batch of free PlayStation Plus games.

On the PlayStation 4, you’ll be getting the “Democracy Strikes Back” edition of Helldivers, which bundles together the original version of the game, three expansions, and some extra content. Ray enjoyed the game when he reviewed it last year, but also had some problems finding competent teammates to work together with online?a necessity for challenging top-down shooter like this. With the game being a free PS+ download, hopefully that’ll mean a much larger pool of players to help in finding a good squad. Joining Helldivers will be Nom Nom Galaxy, PixelJunk’s latest game, and something that I’ve been curious about for some time. Now, instead of buying it, I can try it for free?you can’t beat that.

Helldivers will be downloadable onto the Vita and PlayStation 3 as well, and owners of the latter will also be receiving Grid Autosport and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. I’m not too familiar with Grid?beyond knowing it’s part of Codemasters’ legacy of racing releases?but I can tell you that Ultimax is one heck of a game. It’s another great 2D fighter from Arc System Works, and even if you aren’t a Persona fan, you can enjoy its competitive action. Finally, on the Vita, we’re getting Lemmings Touch and Nova-111.
