Here’s a nice little surprise, BioWare has hidden, in the recently released Extended Cut ending, what appears to be excerpts of a script for the next piece of Mass Effect 3 DLC, which is tentatively being referred to as Leviathan by fans.

Files discovered in the 1.9GB Extended Cut download contain fresh dialogue from all the game’s main characters, presumably recorded alongside the new Extended Cut scenes. To all those who don’t care about spoilers the full text can be found here. However, for those who are interested, a summarized version of the plot, with some spoilers, can be found below.

Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble last night teased that more information regarding this DLC would be coming soon, “As I’ve said before, we do this for you! EC was our gift to the fans. Hope you enjoyed. Also… keep your ears open over the next little while.” BioWare is set to address fans at the San Diego Comic-Con next month.

Do Not Read Past This Point If You Wish To Avoid Spoilers!

The new expansion will focus on a traitorous Reaper known as Leviathan, who defected after killing one of his own kind. Shepard is sent to rescue the scientist Ann Brynson, who you find at a Reaper-indoctrinated mining facility. The facility has been under the control of Leviathan for the last ten years.

One line of dialogue hints at information regarding the Reaper’s creators, briefly alluded to by the Star Child in the game’s ending. “So the Reapers did not fully exterminate their creators. That suggests they are fallible, even on large or long-term scales.”

Once you complete the DLC Leviathan can join you in the fight against the Reapers, obviously as a new War Asset. Ann Brynson will live or die based on the choices you make.

What do you think of this new DLC?
