Microsoft has revealed that a historic Rare IP will be announced at next month’s E3 event for Microsoft’s new Xbox One console, but what could it be?

“Fans of Rare and Rare IP I think will be pleased with what we’re going to show at E3,” Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer told Polygon. “We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability.

“That historic IP that they’ve built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One.”

The developer currently retains the rights to franchises such as Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Perfect Dark, and Killer Instinct. Microsoft recently renewed the trademark for one of these classic franchises, Killer Instinct, could this be the historic franchise being talked about? We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to find out.
