Hitman: Absolution’s Contracts Mode Won’t Require Online Pass

Hitman: Absolution‘s Contracts mode will allow players of the game to craft and share custom missions and challenges—and today, IO Interactive has announced the mode will be free for all players.
Initially, Contracts mode was going to require an online pass for access—which would have been free with new copies of the game, but a cost for anybody getting Hitman: Absolution used. However, it seems that IO Interactive (and publisher Square Enix) have had a change of heart.
“We’d actually planned to have this mode accessible via a code in the game’s box, but we really want to make it available to anybody that plays the game – so we want to take a new approach,” a statement posted on the official Hitman: Absolution Tumblr reads. “If you’re in North America you’ll see the mode automatically appear in the game menu. If you’re elsewhere, you can redeem the code inside the box, or you can simply select the BUY CONTRACTS PASS option. From there, head to the store where CONTRACTS will be free to access.”
So, there you have it. You know, with so many developers and publishers going with online passes for their major new releases, it’s kind of nice to see one example of the opposite choice being made.
