Hitman GO, Square Enix Montreal’s turn-based take on the popular stealth franchise, will be releasing for iOS devices exactly one week from today, on April 17. An Android port of the title will be made available “shortly after.”
According to an announcement on the game’s official site, GO will launch for $4.99, with an impressive-sounding 68 levels included for that price. Completing optional objectives will help you unlock different level packs, including one inspired by the popular 2006 installment Blood Money. There’s no word on whether or not you’ll be able to chip in a few extra bucks to unlock those other levels right away, though Square Enix Montreal has promised more packs in the form of post-launch updates, likely as paid DLC.
As an imaginative spinoff of the Hitman franchise, GO takes its inspiration and aesthetics from board games, with diorama levels, figurine-style characters, and clean, simple colors. Rather than pulling off silent assassinations in real time, series hero Agent 47 will instead need to execute his plan of attack one move at at time along a grid, attempting to stay out of sight of guards and targets.
In January, mainline franchise developer IO Interactive shared the first details about the next major Hitman title, which will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles.
