Mega Man’s 25th anniversary isn’t getting the love it deserves from Capcom USA, but at least Capcom Japan is doing its part in the “Rockman” celebration with this awesome soundtrack collection.
As spotted by the Mega Man Network, Capcom Japan’s online store is selling this Rockman 25th Anniversary E-Tank with soundtrack collections from Rockman through Rockman 10. Of course, that 10-game group covers a lot of titles over a lot of different platforms, but MMN breaks it down thusly:
The “Rockcan” comes in a steel E-Tank tin, and includes a full color booklet. There will be 10 discs and they cover music from the Mega Man games 1 through 10. Rockman 1-6 has both the Famicom and Playstation tracks. Furthermore, according to Ucchy-san, the music is being remastered using the original sound sources. Curiously, Rockman 9 and 10 cite the Xbox Live Arcade versions as their sound source. And also a bummer, but to be expected, Rockman 8‘s source is the PS edition, so don’t look forward to Cut and Wood’s bonus themes.
Sadly, it’s going to be exclusive to the E-Capcom store when it launches on September 19th. That’s too bad for you Mega Man fans without access, but the whole thing does cost a whopping 14700 yen.
That’s about 185 bucks, which is probably more than the individual soundtrack releases combined. But then again, this is a special edition release that comes with a real steel E-Tank. Why, Capcom USA? Why can’t we have this?
