The Coalition has revealed the improvements that will be made to Gears of War 4 on Xbox One X.
To start with, Xbox One X owners will get to choose between two rendering modes: “Performance” and “Visuals.” In Performance mode, both the game’s campaign and horde mode will run at 1080p and 60 FPS, doubling the 30 FPS cap on Xbox One. While in Visual mode, campaign and horde will be locked to 30 FPS, but will run at 4K resolution with “a wealth of new and improved graphical features.” However, regardless of the mode chosen, Versus will run at 4K 60 FPS with adaptive resolution scaling.
As mentioned above, on Xbox One X Gears of War 4 is getting a number of graphical improvements, including enhanced light shafts, dynamic shadows, increased draw distance, superior reflections, and enhanced character textures.
Finally, Gears of War 4 supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), Dolby Atmos Audio, and supersampling on 1080p screens. Take a look at the upgrades in action in the trailer below:
Gears of War 4‘s Xbox One X support will be added to the game via a free update on November 7th.
