Eidos-Montreal programming director Frédéric Robichaud has discussed the improvements that will be made to Shadow of the Tomb Raider when running on Xbox One X.

According to Robichaud, the game will offer two graphics modes on Microsoft’s more powerful console: High Resolution and High Frame rate. In High Resolution mode, the game will run in 4K at a stable 30 FPS. While in High Frame rate mode, the game will drop down to 1080p resolution, but with a 60 FPS target.

The Xbox One X version of the game also features improved stochastic screen-space reflections and atmospheric effects, as well as increased shadow maps and texture resolution.

“Those playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One X will be blown away by the visual quality in High Resolution mode or the fluidity if they choose the High Framerate mode,” Robichaud added. “Players will not want to go back to the previous generation of consoles!”

Earlier today, Square Enix revealed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider will feature a New Game Plus option that offers new abilities and rewards.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches September 14th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
