Hulu Plus Now Available On The Wii

THE BUZZ: The Wii now has another option for enjoying digital content, as Hulu Plus has now officially been released for Nintendo’s gaming console.

EGM’s TAKE: First, as far as this announcement—awesome. I’ve never once used my Wii to make use of my Netflix subscription, but I know people who have. I have a friend who was without Xbox Live Gold for a while, and due to Microsoft’s still-baffling decision to not make Netflix available to those Xbox 360 users not paying for Gold, he had to watch Netflix on his Wii instead.

So, even if I personally would never make use of such functions on the Wii, it’s always nice to have options—and now yet another such option is available.

What I’m not a huge fan of is Hulu Plus to begin with. Why does it cost $7.99 to be able to watch Hulu via a game console, yet it’s free on the computer? And why does the free computer version of Hulu has so much more content than Hulu Plus? In nearly every other case, the different between free and paying a subscription is that you get more content when paying. With Hulu Plus, you get less. Ridiculous.

Do you use—or have you ever used—your Wii for services like Netflix or Hulu Plus? Are you excited about now having Hulu Plus as part of the built-in functions of the console?
