Humble Indie Bundle V is officially over, shattering previous records from past collections by a huge margin with almost 600,000 copies sold for 5.1 million dollars. In the sale-slash-charity’s two-year run, this was possibly the greatest assortment of indie game titles yet, featuring Bastion, Limbo, Braid, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, Psychonauts, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Lone Survivor, and Super Meat Boy.

As usual, Windows users filled up the majority of buyers, making up roughly two-thirds of the total purchases.

Unlike most digital distributors, the Humble Indie Bundle lets anyone set their own price for the games they buy, with extra incentives for people who pay above a certain amount set by the community. Here’s a breakdown of the average price everyone paid for the bundle, broken down by platform:

• Average Linux: $12.51

With this hugely successful run, Humble Indie Bundle V officially surpasses Humble Indie Bundle 4 as the top performer in the series, which featured Jamestown, Bit.Trip Runner, Shank, NightSky HD, Cave Story+, Gratuitous Space Battles, and again, Super Meat Boy. With all the bad news that we often deal with in the gaming industry, it’s always good to see indie developers coming together to do something great like this.
