Id Software – Kudos To Sony For Rage Install Size
Posted on September 26, 2011 AT 07:41am
THE BUZZ: Tim Willits, Creative Designer at Id Software, has given praise to Sony for allowing them to install 8GBs of data to the PlayStation 3 HDD for Rage.
The install size is so big because id Software installs the game’s textures, making the game load quickly without effecting quality. “What we were able to do is install all the textures to the highest level,” he said. “What is nice about the PS3 platform is that it’s just one platform. Everyone has one Blu-ray drive, one hard drive, it’s all the same. Some of the other systems you have… should I install it on my 360? Should I not install it? So yes, it’s very nice, Willits explained. “Sony was great. Kudos to Sony for letting us do that. They don’t allow every game to do that. So definitely, hats off.”
EGM’s TAKE: This is just another episode in the optical storage saga, and we feel that the PlayStation 3 has the edge with Rage.
