As was foretold by the prophecy, Major Nelson has returned from the twelfth moon of Jupiter to beam Xbox Live Gold subscribers aboard his astral yacht and take them to the dimension of free games.
For the entire month of February, Xbox One owning star pilgrims will be able to claim a copy of #IDARB, a multiplayer-focused, social media?inspired ball sports game that comes out on the first of the month. Designed from the ground up with feedback from Twitter, it’s apparently pretty out there, with other folks’ tweets able to affect your experience in real time by summoning “hashbombs” that include a pixelated Rick Astley.
Xbox 360 users will be receiving the standard hyper-ration of two games. From February 1 through 15, they’ll get Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the Starbreeze-developed twin-stick puzzle game that’s so touching, its publisher shelled out a cool half-million for the rights. Then, for the second half of the month, they can grab Sniper Elite V2, a sniping-themed media experience that does not include questionable politics or an obviously fake baby.
Be sure to check back a month from today, when we’ll learn about March’s Games with Gold and find out if Major Nelson’s ascendence was successful, thereby spreading his molecules across the galaxy in a fine intergalactic mist that will seed the civilizations of the next epoch.
