A new behind-the-scenes video for inFAMOUS: Second Son provides a look at the developers’ efforts to capture emotional nuance in facial animation.

“There are two fundamental changes for this game,” Brian Fleming, producer/founder at Sucker Punch Productions, says int he video. “The first is that it’s on a new piece of hardware. And the second is that it’s a new character. And those, I think, are the seed decisions that almost every other decision we made is based on those two decisions—and they were probably made three years ago.”

The video includes shots of prolific videogame voice actor Troy Baker, who plays protagonist Delsin Rowe, performing mo-cap for the role while the developers discuss their concentrated effort to capture every emotional detail Baker conveys to strengthen the game’s immersion and capitalize on the power the PS4 affords them.

inFamous: Second Son launches exclusively on PS4 sometime this fall.
