More information and a handful of screenshots for Infamous: Second Son have surfaced on the PlayStation Blog.

According to the post, the new protagonist is Seattle-raised Delsin Rowe, who gained the ability to “direct, manipulate, and even transform into smoke” after braving a fiery bus wreck to save the passengers.

Second Son takes place seven years after the events of Infamous and Infamous 2, in a world that has acclimated to the presence of super-powered beings. In response, the government established the Department of Unified Protection (DUP), whose sole responsibility is to ensure another incident like Empire City or New Marais never happens again.

Speaking of Empire City and New Marais, Second Son is set not in another fictional city like the previous Infamous titles, but rather Seattle. According to Sony’s post, players will be able to visit familiar Seattle landmarks in the game.

Just before unveiling the teaser trailer, Sucker Punch director Nate Fox talked at length about the nature of freedom in the modern world and how the cost of our safety comes at a price—our privacy. What seemed  like an eyebrow-raising tangent at the time turns out to be themes in Second Son.
