Infinity Ward, Treyarch Not Touching Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified

Activision probably has all hands on deck for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, but who’s handling the upcoming PS Vita release? Believe it or not, a Resistance developer.

In an note to CVG, Treyarch communications manager John Rafacz stated that neither Infinity Ward nor Treyarch are directly involved with development, save for canonical editing:

“Activision is the publisher, but we also have a partnership with Sony to bundle Declassified with the PlayStation Vita.”

That means that all the heavy lifting will be done by Sony-owned studio Nihilistic Software, which last developed Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita. It’s also the only first-person shooter to the group’s name, as their scattershot portfolio includes titles like Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects and PlayStation Move Heroes.

Early press buzz is indicating that Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified isn’t looking so good on the gameplay front despite the heavy promotional push by Sony. We’ll see what’s up when the game releases in November.
