Titanfall’s Gen 5 challenge requirement “Gooser,” which requires players shooter 50 ejecting pilots out of the air, will be reduced to just 5, Respawn Entertainment announced.
“We went a bit too far with this challenge, especially considering the unique conditions that have to be met in order to have the opportunity to get a kill on an ejecting Pilot,” reads a post on the game’s official website. “We are aware that some players have already completed the challenge or earned more than the new requirement. We plan to internally note those players so we can recognize their accomplishments in a future game update.”
Generations in Titanfall are the equivalent to Call of Duty Prestiges. Each Gen level—10 in total—requires players meet a certain set of challenges before advancing. Gen 5, for example requires players kill 200 enemies with the R-101C Carbine, kill 75 Pilots with the R-101C, kill 200 enemies using the Titan’s Arc Cannon, kill 50 Titans using the Arc Cannon, kill 10 Titans using the anti-Titan Sidewinder, and pick 50 Pilots out of their air after they’ve ejected from a doomed Titan.
It is a challenge that Josh and I have been stuck on for a week now, Josh with 10 Goosings after a few days trying and me with 30 after just over a week. It’s been a very unpleasant week.
According to Respawn, the “Gooser” reduction will go live “in the near future as part of an upcoming patch,” so any sadistic players out there—like me—can still complete the challenge if for no other reason than bragging rights.
