One of DC Comics’ heroes for the newer generation was cut from the recently released Injustice 2 before he had the chance to shock us with his moves.
According to Injustice 2 character designer Marco Nelor, Static Shock was explored as a potential playable character in the fighting game but didn’t make the final roster. Nelor posted concept art for the hero to his Instagram account, showing fans what could have been.
This would not have been the first time the Injustice series included Static, who had a role in the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game. Fans can check out a break-down of that version of the character, who has a much less cool design, below.
It seems exceedingly unlikely a designer would reveal art for a potential DLC character on Instagram, so fans should not expect Static Shock to make Injustice 2 at any point. The character’s removal from the game likely followed the developer’s decision to finalize Black Adam, as their electricity-based fighting styles would be very similar.
Injustice 2 is currently available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Apart from a mildly contrived story, NetherRealm’s sequel is a god among fighting games, as explored in EGM’s official review.
