With Injustice 2‘s strange gear-deleting bug out of the way, the development team can focus on delivering more new fighters to the roster.
In an interview with IGN Brazil, Boon teased the inclusion of more new characters to the Injustice-verse. “This update will have a new character that will surprise everyone. No one is expecting their style of play,” Boon said. “I’ve never talked about it, it’s the first time I’ve said it.” While there’s no hint of who this surprising fighter will be, Hellboy’s entrance has players hoping other comic characters outside the primary DC Universe could enter the mix. High on the list are Image Comics’ Spawn and Watchmen‘s Rorschach, either of which would probably require a new style of play.
Of course, NetherRealm announced in early October that the Atom would be coming to the game, but there was no mention of a third pack of DLC in his reveal trailer, leading many to believe he was just a solo addition. With Boon’s new tease and the announcement of the Atom, Fighter Pack 3 seems to have a theme of unique fighting types, as the Atom has the ability to shrink and grow his size in battle. With changes in scale now in the mix, Injustice 2 players could be about to experience the next evolution of fighting games.
Boon does say there will be a formal announcement of the new fighter pack later this year, but he doesn’t divulge any more details. “I have nothing to announce officially, but people should stay connected.”
Injustice 2 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
