Injustice

Recent teases of one fateful Injustice 2 character proved to be on point as Dr. Fate has been officially revealed.

Dr. Fate’s first official gameplay video was posted to the Injustice 2 YouTube channel, showing the mystic battling it out with the Man of Steel and a few other fighters. The character primarily utilizes magic to deal damage, rarely engaging in physical contact and using spells to attack from unpredictable directions.

Game designer John Edwards commented on why Fate was an ideal addition to the roster.

“We like to have characters that have a lot of variety—especially in their moves and attacks—so we can make sure we don’t just have one type of character. We don’t want every character to be just like Batman or Superman. So we try to find characters that have unique powers, unique abilities, things that the rest of cast don’t necessarily have. And we looked back and we were like, ‘Hey, we don’t really have a predominant spellcasting, magic-based character.’ Doctor Fate, being essentially the most powerful magic user in the DC universe, seemed like just a real good fit.”

Dr. Fate was recently teased when his helmet and cape were spotted on the banner image for the Arena store of the game’s mobile version. Other images promoting the mobile version have also teased the Green Arrow as a new character, so fans should be expecting his reveal coming up soon.

Injustice 2 is slated to launch on May 16th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the mobile version expected to launch around the same time.
