Injustice

Fresh off Black Manta’s debut, Injustice 2 has already released Raiden’s gameplay trailer, and fans who were miffed about another Mortal Kombat character coming to the roster might be pleased.

Debuting it in a surprise trailer after the Grand Finals of the Injustice Pro Series (which was won by—surprise, surprise—SonicFox), Raiden’s gameplay trailer shows off a bunch of the lightning-based character’s moves, including a super that transports his foes into what looks like the Outworld before feeding them to a lightning-born version of the MK dragon.

While Raiden doesn’t seem to have any moves that will appeal to zone-based players, he’s got a couple of really nice AOE specials that will keep opponents at bay and punish wake-ups. Plus, his ability to teleport will allow players to get in against zoners like Deadshot and Black Adam.

The real surprise here, however, is that Black Lightning, a DC character, will be a Premier Skin for Raiden. Black Lightning’s inclusion was recently teased by creative director Ed Boon, but now we know for sure how he will be introduced into the game. Fans who purchased the Ultimate Edition will get this Premier Skin for free.

Raiden is part of Injustice 2‘s Fighter Pack 2 DLC, which also includes Black Manta, who’s now available to play, and Hellboy, who has yet to get a gameplay trailer. The self-proclaimed God of Thunder will debut in Injustice 2 sometime in October.

Injustice 2 is currently available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though recent retail leaks suggest a PC release is imminent.
