To celebrate the one-year anniversary of its release, NetherRealm Studios finally added a multiplayer mode to the iOS version of Injustice: Gods Among Us, the developer announced.
The new multiplayer mode, available as of this morning, allows fans to assemble their own teams of heroes and villains from the DC Universe and pit against the AI-controlled teams of opponents. Multiplayer Points are awarded to the victor, which then determines your rank on a weekly leaderboard. Those nearest to the top of the leaderboards each week will be given special in-game rewards.
The new multiplayer mode will also feature a Match Replay system for players to watch their previous match again.
Along with the new mode, the update brings new “Gold” characters, an increased level cap, new boosters packs, and new bonus missions into the game.
According to NetherRealm, the same update will come to Android devices in May.
Injustice: Gods Among Us launched on mobile devices in April 2013 alongside the console versions of the game. Unlike the console versions, however, the mobile game is a free-to-play title, which features a collectible card mechanic to unlock and upgrade fighters and a 3-on-3 tag-team battle system.
