‘Instant Switching’ and ‘Snap Mode’ Announced for Xbox One

Posted on May 21, 2013 AT 10:26am

Well the Xbox One is official, but what you really want to know about is its features right? So far we know about “Instant Switching” and “Snap Mode.”

First up is Instant Switching, this basically does exactly what it says on the tin. Thanks to this feature with just a single phrase you can instantly switch between games, TV, movies, music, and more. There’s a nanosecond wait and you’re away. It was pretty impressive to see especially seeing as it’s impossible on the current Xbox

There’s also gestures for closing programs and reopening them with no delay, simply grab the outside of the screen and push your hands together to close, and pull them back apart to re-open.

Next up is Snap Mode, this allows you to open up a second window at the side of your movie/music/game similar to Windows OS. Users can open up Internet Explorer, Favorites, and more all without interfering with whatever you are doing. Want to search the web while watching a film, no worries, simply use Snap Mode to open the browser and the film will continue to play.
