Irrational Confirms No Multiplayer For Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite will not contain a multiplayer component of any kind, series creator Ken Levine has confirmed.

Irrational Games was believed to be working on several multiplayer modes for the game, however Levine announced in August that at least two of these had been cut. The developer had been working on a Spec Ops mode which allowed up to four players to play levels from the game’s single-player campaign. A tower defense mode was also being worked on, which featured players being shrunk down to fight toys in an arcade machine.

Levine confirmed the news on Twitter, when asked by a fan about the game’s multiplayer, he simply replied, “No multi.” Bioshock 2‘s multiplayer was deemed weak at best so it’s no surprise that the team decided to drop the component and focus on single-player in the latest entry.

Are you glad that multiplayer has been dropped? Share your thoughts below.
