A large group of Final Fantasy fans have become increasingly annoyed at the over sexualization of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII’s lead Lightning, and this latest image from Famitsu probably isn’t going to help matters.

A scan from the latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu shows Lightning’s victory pose while wearing the Miqo’te costume—basically a cat outfit. Her victory pose involves her bending over seductively, which goes completely against her character.

Over the past two Final Fantasy XIII games Lightning has been sold as a tough, independent, take no-messing lead character, so why does she now all of a sudden want to play dress-up and act like this? I realize that Square needed a gimmick for Lightning Returns and costumes is what it chose. I’m fine with this, but don’t ruin the character you spent two games and countless hours building.
