With E3 nearly upon us, rumors about what games companies will be bringing to the show have been swirling around the Internet. One rumor in particular, however, is getting pushback from a reliable source: It seems that Sunset Overdrive 2 is not in development and won’t be at the show.
Rumors of a new Sunset Overdrive game started on Reddit, when user SoMeh predicted a few details about Bethesda’s upcoming game, Fallout 76. In addition to that, he predicted several new titles, including a new Gears of War game, Forza Horizon 4, Halo 6, and Sunset Overdrive 2.
Now, though, another reporter has come out to squish those rumors. Patrick Klepek, a senior reporter at Waypoint and former Giant Bomb news editor, stepped forward to say that Sunset Overdrive 2 “isn’t happening right now.”
Sunset Overdrive 2 isn’t happening right now. I poke around about this game all the time; it’s one of my generational favorites, and desperately asked for a sequel. It’s not in development. https://t.co/kYz4teHcmC

Of course, all of these rumors should be taken with a huge grain of salt. There’s been no official word from any of the companies behind the games listed above yet, since they’re keeping their surprises for E3. In this case, however, Klepek’s sources seem more likely than those of a random anonymous Redditor.
E3 2018 runs from June 12th to June 14th, so we’ll find out who’s right once the official conferences begin.
