Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption 2‘s first gameplay trailer revealed a ton of information about open-world interactions and horse riding, but one of the most interesting details connecting it to its predecessor was hidden in the background.

As GameSpot points out, what looks like John Marston’s wife and son, Abigail and Jack, are seen during the trailer.

During the scene where Dutch’s Gang is all gathered around the fire, a boy we think is Jack is spotted sitting on the lap of a young woman whom we think is Abigail, especially because they’re sitting right next to John.

That woman definitely looks like a younger version of Abigail from the first Red Dead Redemption.

A similar-looking woman who may or may not be Abigail is seen in the next scene berating Arthur for saving someone’s life and then immediately stealing sheep with them. We think this is referencing a moment seen a previous trailer during which a different gang is holding John Marston hostage.

Of course, we don’t now if this is Marston’s family for sure, but we do know that Jack was born in 1895 and Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place in 1899, so it would make sense that Jack and Abigail would be in the game. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the rest of Dutch’s Gang during the next gameplay video, which will reveal more information about the game’s missions.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is launching October 26th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Is this John Marston’s family in Red Dead Redemption 2?

Abigail and Jack seem to make a small cameo in the latest Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer.
