Over at Gamasutra, several job postings suggest—keyword, suggest, not confirm—that a new PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale may be in development, or at least in early design stages.
There are nine jobs listed, including game designer/implementer, AI programmer, art director, and engine/generalist programmer. Among the items listed under “Experience Required” for the game designer gig, there’s one bullet point that reads:
“Must have a near encyclopedic knowledge of modern games, with emphasis on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.”
Then there’s this snippet, from the art director listing:
“He or she will also represent SuperBot to external vendors, IP holders, and the publisher, explaining and demonstrating the vision and how individual characters, environments, or other assets will fit.”
Could SuperBot Entertainment be ramping up for a next-gen PlayStation All-Stars game? It’s nothing more than conjecture at the moment, but considering how the first PlayStation All-Stars has already been released, and how the next PlayStation console isn’t too far off, such a massive hiring drive certainly suggests as much—that, or a totally new project in the works.
