Hello Games has announced that Joe Danger 2: The Movie is heading to Xbox Live Arcade on September 14th. In celebration of the sequel, the developer is also releasing a special edition of their franchise’s original game.
There won’t be a PSN version right off the bat, which is a bit of a switch, since Sony got the first Joe Danger as a PS3-only title during a short exclusivity period. It’ll likely be available on both consoles this year, though.
It’s also going to be the last Joe Danger title, according to Hello Games managing director Sean Murray, who told Eurogamer yesterday about the mixed emotions from the team:
“Don’t get me wrong, I think this game is great, the best thing we’ve ever done and it feels like we finally nailed it. It’s a huge game made by a small team. We owed Joe a great swansong, a game that hopefully people still remember playing in ten years time. I hope we’ve done that. Saying that out loud, I just remembered how I should go join the rest of the team to celebrate now.”
If so inclined, you can check out Joe Danger: Special Edition right now for 600 MS Points.
To date, Joe Danger titles are the only thing that Hello Games has to their name right now, but the studio seems to still be working on “Project Skyscraper”—a mystery project mentioned on their official company website. Maybe that’ll be the studio’s next big announcement, since it sounds like they’ve been working on it for a while.
