JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD Updates Include Arcade Mode, Full Online Content

Now that the official announcement is out of the way, Capcom’s ready to divulge the full details about everything they upgraded for their re-release of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Notably, it’s got plenty of the HD trimmings that Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online gained in its remake, which makes sense given that both games ran on the same arcade system board.
Capcom’s Unity Blog runs through a list of changes, with the most notable being full online support. Aside from playing with buddies on your console’s network, you’ve also got eight-player lobbies and advanced matchmaking options to boot:
- Features online matchmaking reminiscent of Super Street Fighter® IV and Marvel® vs. Capcom® 3, will be able to choose their opponents based on various factors including location, skill and connection speed.
- As with other Capcom fighting titles, this game will have Battle Points and Player Points, pushing players up the global leaderboards as they gain experience.
- Introduces an all new eight-player online lobby system with spectating.
- Includes the ability to save match replays and share them online.
As seen in the image above, the standard definition arcade mode is also supported with custom artwork bordering the action. Based on what Capcom did with Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online, one can likely assume that hitboxes have been modified for the widescreen option as well, so you’ll have to adjust your distancing if you’re going the HD route.
Pretty impressive, all things considered. Now I’m just imagining how great this would look for the Darkstalkers lineup.
