Mortal Kombat

A new trailer narrated by Ed Boon himself sees Black Dragon mercenary Kano added as the eighth character for Mortal Kombat X.

Just like the other fighters, Kano has three fighting styles shown off in the trailer. The Cutthroat style sees Kano use his trademark knives to chain together punishing combos. The Cybernetic style has Kano rely more on his enhancements to deliver ranged attacks include his classic eye laser blast. And, finally, the Commando style puts Kano’s mercenary training to good use with it being best suited for up close fighters that like getting their hands dirty.

Along with these fighting styles, we briefly saw one of Kano’s fatalities, which illustrates how to bore a hole through your opponent’s skull with an eye laser.

Kano joins Raiden, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion as characters from the original Mortal Kombat roster seeing a return here. Newcomers Cassie Cage (the child of original roster members Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage), Kotal Kahn (supposedly the newest ruler of Outworld), the insect woman D’Vorah, and gaming’s newest odd-couple, Ferra & Tor make up the rest of the revealed roster thus far.

Mortal Kombat X will be available on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC sometime in 2015.
