Kevin Conroy Won’t Be Voicing Batman in Arkham Origins

The idea of Batman: Arkham Origins being a fresh start ring truer than ever, now that longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy won’t be reprising the role.

Conroy is among the many departures and changes Warner Bros. Games Montreal’s take on the Arkham universe introduces. Mark Hammil, the most iconic voice of the Joker, announced that Arkham City would be his last time stepping into the clown’s shoes. And, of course, Arkham Origins is not being developed by series creators Rocksteady Games. There’s also a rumor making the Internet rounds that Arkham Origins will feature some sort of online multiplayer.

Kevin Conroy is also the latest in a recent trend of iconic game characters no longer being voiced by their original voice actor. Michael Ironside stepped aside as Sam Fisher, handing the role over to Eric Johnson. And Hideo Kojima confirmed at the end of March that David Hayter would not be returning to voice Snake in Metal Gear Solid V.

Batman: Arkham Origins grapples onto PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U October 25. PlayStation 4 and Xbox [Whatever] versions are also expected.
