Microsoft is bringing their free-to-play Xbox One fighting game Killer Instinct to retail stores on September 23 with the Killer Instinct: Combo Breaker Pack.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to simply walk in to your local GameStop, pick up the disc, and walk out without paying. Instead, you’ll have to shell out $19.99—the price of a digital Season Pass—and in exchange, you’ll get all the characters released so far, along with a code to unlock the first Season 2 character, TJ Combo.
When Combo will actually become playable is not yet clear, since Microsoft has been tight-lipped about when the second season of character releases will be kicking off.
Killer Instinct fans are no doubt eager to see how the game will progress, since original developer Double Helix—since purchased by Amazon to develop games for their Fire TV—has handed over control to Iron Galaxy, the folks behind Divekick and a number of classic fighting game ports.
