THE BUZZ: Tetsuya Nomura, the co-creator of Kingdom Hearts, has revealed that Square-Enix will be making some announcements regarding the future of the series soon.

The  Kingdom Hearts 3D Ultimania guide book says that the development team has ”started making a variety of movements for the new title(s) in the series” and Nomura ”believes they’ll be able to make an announcement pretty soon.”

He ruled out a sequel to Birth by Sleep and also said that there on no plans for a Final Mix version of Kingdom Hearts 3D.

EGM’s TAKE: Could Square-Enix finally be preparing to announce Kingdom Hearts 3? It’s been so long since the second game that many have given up hope. We’ve seen several spin-offs instead, and the publisher has stated previously that they want to get Final Fantasy Versus XIII out of the door, before they start work on a third Kingdom Hearts. Whenever they decide to announce it, the game will have to be spectacular in order to win over the fans who have been waiting so long.
