Square Enix has officially announced Kingdom Hearts III will launch for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29th, 2019.
The reveal came during the pre-E3 Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour concert in Los Angeles. The long-awaited game was initially slated to launch this year, but according to the development team in a tweet, which you can see below, they needed “a little more time” to finish the final build. However, “a few trailers” will be revealed at E3.
We’ve announced the release day for KINGDOM HEARTS III ahead of E3 at the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour-. I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned. Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you – Nomura

The full trailer that accompanied the launch date reveal hasn’t been released yet, but attendees reported seeing references to the Disney and Pixar film Ratatouille. It’s unclear if the 2007 film will be featured as a world in the upcoming game or if players will have the chance to use the lead character, Remy, as a summon.
The release date confirmation doesn’t come as too much of a shock, as series director Tetsuya Nomura recently teased fans would know the launch date in early June. The developer also recently offered a hands-on gameplay session of the upcoming entry in the series, which featured a look at the Toy Story and Hercules-themed worlds.
