After many, many delays, the Kingdom Hearts: VR Experience is finally out.
This two-part VR game was originally set to release way back in December, with a followup in January. Originally, it would have been out long before Kingdom Hearts III, offering fans a lead-in to the bigger game’s release. However, it was delayed again and again, and slipped past the launch of Kingdom Hearts III entirely.
Now that Kingdom Hearts III has been out for an entire month, it’s finally time for Kingdom Hearts: VR Experience to shine. It’s up on the PlayStation Store today.
The VR Experience isn’t a full VR version of Kingdom Hearts. Instead, it’s a new experience, something like a cross between an exploration game and a music video.
“Kingdom Hearts fans are in for a treat this week with the opportunity to revisit some of your favorite Disney movies from the vibrant Square Enix franchise,” a post on PlayStation Blog reads, describing the content. “Enjoy a 10-minute interactive PS VR video featuring the series’ beautiful music and unlock new content as you’re playing.”
The Kingdom Hearts: VR Experience is a free download, so if you have a headset and are a fan of the series, you should be able to jump in and start playing it. Finally.
