Kirby: Triple Deluxe will feature a Smash Bros.–style multiplayer battle mode and a rhythm platformer mode, Nintendo global president Satoru Iwata revealed during this morning’s Nintendo Direct.
In Kirby Fighters, ten of the titular hero’s power-absorption abilities are turned into standalone combatants that players can go toe-to-toe with alone (during which the Kirbys will be A.I. driven, no doubt) or with up to three others in multiplayer.
The other mode revealed for Kirby: Triple Deluxe was Dedede’s Drum Dash, in which players control King Dedede in a side-scrolling, rhythm-based platformer that sees the kingly penguin bouncing across drums and collecting coins to several familiar Kirby tunes.
You can see both modes in action in the Nintendo Direct footage embedded below, starting just after the four minute mark.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is coming to Nintendo 3DS sometime 2014.
