The most recent Nintendo Direct featured mostly on content for the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo 3DS fans aren’t forgotten just yet. Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, an enhanced port of the older Wii game Kirby’s Epic Yarn, is headed to the 3DS.
Unlike other Kirby games, these ones are set in a world made entirely of crafted fabric materials like yarn and felt. Even Kirby’s abilities are yarn-like in nature. With the enhanced port, he’ll gain a few extra powers from the base game, including ones that let him make bigger yarn balls or summon a gust of wind.
In addition to all the levels found in the base game, players will get access to a few all-new minigames. Some of these let players take on the roles of other characters from the Kirby franchise. We don’t know the full extent of the roster yet, but King Dedede and Meta Knight were included in the direct. Another new mode, dubbed “Devilish Mode,” will set Kirby racing through the levels, trying to complete them faster than his opponent.
You can get a glimpse of these new features in the Nintendo Direct video below, starting at around the 1 minute, 25 seconds mark.
Nintendo didn’t give a release date for Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, but we can expect to see it exclusively on the 3DS sometime in 2019.
