Kojima Searching for Studio to Remake MGS1 Using Fox Engine.

Posted on June 25, 2013 AT 12:06pm

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima—who probably needs no introduction, really—intends to remake the original Metal Gear Solid using Kojima Production’s new Fox Engine, GameReactor reports.

According to GameReactor, during a roundtable interview attended during E3, Kojima mentioned that he’s on the search for a studio that can adapt MGS for next-gen consoles, powered by the Fox Engine (the engine Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is running on). This would be the second time Kojima remade the original Metal Gear Solid. In 2004, Silicon Knights gave the game a much-needed makeover and released the remake on GameCube.

In the meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid 5—which is well underway—is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 either late 2014 or early 2015. Presumably before a current-gen release would cease to be relevant.
