Konami Announced as Publisher of XBLA Version of Choplifter HD

THE BUZZ: Konami Digital Entertainment today announced that they will be teaming up with InXile Entertainment to handle the publishing of Choplifter HD for Xbox Live Arcade. Choplifter HD is, of course, a new imagining of the original Choplifter, a classic game from the 1980′s.
“The addition of Choplifter HD to KONAMI’s diverse portfolio of games is a testament of our dedication to providing gamers with the best there is to offer in the downloadable space,” said Vice President of Acquisitions and Franchise Development for Konami Digital Entertainment Careen Yapp. “Choplifter is a true classic, and we are looking forward to working with inXile Entertainment to bring this fun and creative re-imagining of the original title to gamers this Winter.”
EGM’s TAKE: What’s interesting is that Choplifter HD will also be released for the PlayStation Network and PC, both of which will no doubt be self-published by InXile. This, for me, marks one of the major downfalls of Microsoft’s Xbox Live policies: Developers can’t publish their own games, unless they want them relegated to the Xbox Indies section. This has kept some great games from coming to the Xbox 360 during its lifetime, which is a real shame.
Also… I have no idea why Duke Nukem is in Choplifter HD. Crazy!
