Sure, you’ve played survival-horror games that put you in the role of a rookie cop, a grieving husband, or a young woman trying desperately to escape her evil-and-on-fire grandfather. But how about taking control of a 2-year-old toddler armed only with his trusty teddy bear?
Norway-based Krillbite Studio ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for Among the Sleep last May—endorsed by Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski and even parody Twitter game-design account Peter Molydeux, of all people—that reached its $200,000 goal and then some. Now, the company has released the first gameplay teaser since they locked down funding more than a year ago.
As the video below shows, the game’s action takes place in a first-person perspective and mixes the mundane with the surreal, attempting to capture how a 2-year-old might really see the world when he’s alone in the dark.
Among the Sleep is currently slated for a spring 2014 release on PC, Max, and Linux.
