L.A. Noire Director’s Next Game-’Whore of the Orient’

THE BUZZ: In an article about Happy Feet Two director George Miller, an interesting tidbit has been revealed about about an upcoming project from L.A. Noire‘s director Brendan McNamara.
In talking about the relationship between Australia’s film and game studios, Miller spoke a bit about Mad Max 4: Fury Road. He stated that originally the game was going to be made by a Swedish team, but that he had changed his mind after seeing what McNamara’s Team Bondi had done with L.A. Noire.
As a part of what followed form that decision, Miller ended up doing a reverse-liscening deal, one which gives him the rights to make a film based on McNamara’s next game—one with the interesting title Whore of the Orient.
EGM’s TAKE: Before you get too crazy over that name, just a point of clarification: “Whore of the Orient, Paris of the East” is a famous phrase use to describe the city of Shanghai, China, so there’s no doubt that such a game would somehow involve the city as its setting—and not, you know, a literal Asian whore. It’s also isn’t hard to imagine that Whore of the Orient could no doubt tie into McNamara’s claim about working on a video game surrounding “one of the great untold stories of the 20th Century.”
Who would be working on such a game, with Team Bondi all but dead? That would no doubt be Kennedy Miller Mitchell Interactive, a company which co-founder Doug Mitchell claims is staffed by “not only the Krome team but Team Bondi’s last standing warriors.”
A company which, by the way, has a direct connection to Dr. D Studios—the digital production studio that created the Happy Feet movies, and which was started by George Miller and Doug Mitchell.
