Vehicles are a key part of the Battlefield experience, and developer DICE continues the Battlefield 1 Gameplay Series by showing off how many of players’ favorite war machines got their start.

Planes, trains, and automobiles make up several of the vehicle types players can utilize in Battlefield 1, but tanks are also integral to the experience. World War I was the first war in which these formidable tools were widely used, and their purpose in the game is to dominate the battlefield with brute force.

The video also explains that Battlefield 1 marks the first time in the series that vehicles come with specialized soldier classes. When spawning in a tank or a plane, players will automatically change to the tanker or pilot class respectively. These classes are specifically designed to be most effective in managing their respective vehicles, but they may have less impact in open infantry combat.

For a similar look at the weapons of Battlefield 1, the developers detailed the game’s arsenal in the previous Gameplay Series video.

Battlefield 1 is slated to launch October 21st on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
