A new trailer for action-RPG Code Vein has been released that shows off its Dark Souls-esque gameplay and offers a glimpse at the game’s animated cutscenes.
The trailer below goes over the basics of the story, offers a look at some combat, and reveals the game’s anime cutscenes. These scenes will be animated by Ufotable, the Japanese animation studio that has previously worked on cutscenes for God Eater, the Tales of series, and more.
“In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has caused the collapse of the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment,” the game’s description reads. “At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood.”
As previously announced, players will have access to Blood Veils, devices which allow them to drain the blood of enemies and then use it to change form, increasing strength, weakening enemies, and unlocking new weapon abilities with overpowered attacks.
Code Vein is scheduled to launch in 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
