Posting on the PlayStation Blog, Square Enix community head Phil Elliot served up a new trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, along with new gameplay details.
According to Elliott, some battles in Lightning Returns will feature enemies with multiple attackable areas. Disabling specific areas on those enemies will not only weaken the enemy, but also offer up different rewards upon the battle’s completion.
Elliott also touched upon the game’s counter attack system, which requires precise timing and heavy consideration concerning its use, since it eats up a large chunk of the ATB gauge. Also, counter attacks are only effective against physical attacks, not magical ones.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII launches on PS3 and Xbox 360 February 11, 2014 in North America, February 14, 2014 in Europe.
