Latest NHL 14 Video Contains So Much Checking, So Much Checking

Posted on July 2, 2013 AT 01:46pm

The latest trailer for NHL 14 runs through a handful of the game’s updates features, including one-touch dekes, true performance skating, collision physics, and the Enforcer engine borrowed from the Fight Night series.

The trailer is more cinematic than it is indicative of gameplay as it would be seen in action properly, but there is a whole mess of checking during the second half of the trailer. So, I mean, if you were concerned that NHL 14 would be light on the player-on-player physicality, rest assured—it’s there in spades.

All of these features are, however, noticeable improvements over NHL 13‘s—something EA Sports made a concentrated effort to better in the latest installment.

The publisher also recently revealed New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur as NHL 14‘s cover athlete.

NHL 14 launches on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 September 10 in North America, September 13 worldwide.
