League of Legends patch 4.1 will add static roster to help new players learn the ropes

Posted on January 15, 2014 AT 11:00am

To help new players ease into League of Legends, Riot Games is improving the way players learn the game by offering a static roster of champions ideal for new player use, the developer announced.

“Our goal is to improve the way players learn to play League of Legends when they’re first starting out,” player relations specialist Chris Tom wrote in a post outlining patch 4.1. “These champions were picked because of how easy they can be learned and how enjoyable most new players find them.”

According to Tom, the new player experience changes for patch 4.1 are scheduled to be switched on “at a later note.” Use of the free champion roster is only designed for the first few levels of a new player’s experience. Afterwards, they will be required to use the standard free-to-play rotation League of Legends employs.

The full list of changes, which includes balancing champions Anivia, Annie, Evelynn, Janna, Jinx, Nasus, Rengar, Riven, Shyvana, Thresh, and Yasuo, check out the patch notes posted to the game’s official website.
