Leap Motion Controller Launch Delayed

Posted on April 27, 2013 AT 09:51am

PC’s 3D gesture-based Leap Motion Controller has been delayed from May to July 22, The Verge reports.

Leap Motion CEO Michael Buckwald says the delay is due to the need to further develop and refine the controller’s software—not because of any hardware issues. The Leap Motion Controller hardware is reportedly finalized, with 600,000 units already produced.

“We’ve always said we wouldn’t release the product until it met our expectations,” Buckwald told The Verge, “and in this case our expectations are extremely high.”

“This is the first and only delay there will be,” he added.

The Leap Motion Controller is compatible with Windows PC and Mac operating systems. Games that support the device include Cut the Rope, Double Fine’s Dropchord, and Wreck-It Ralph: Sugar Rush Speedway.
